Hi, I’m Bre—a Buddhist chaplain based in Decatur, IL.
My work is rooted in my life's experienced. It's a combination of mutual aid and social justice, which inspired me to found The Rising Phoenix (Decatur, IL), an initiative dedicated to bringing vital resources to those in need in our community.
With over five years of work-experience as a chaplain, a background in psychology and my own lived-experience as a survivor of domestic violence, I strive to weave my faith and background into actionable change. By working with Special Little Kittens Rescue my goal is to foster a space where everyone can thrive. Every project I undertake reflects my deep love for humanity and my unwavering commitment to equity and justice.

I'm here to empower youth (ages 10–13) who’ve witnessed domestic violence to heal, grow, and emerge as Next-Gen Leaders through trauma-informed programming and therapeutic interactions with cats—fostering resilience, emotional well-being, and lifelong skills for success. While working with these youth, it is my hope to also equip parents with tools to break cycles of violence, strengthen family bonds, and build safer, nurturing homes.
Decatur isn’t just a small town—it’s a community full of possibility.
